# Showing every size to scale

How Frame Up reads the sizes you already sell, shows each one at its true size on a real wall, and picks a room that suits it.

**In short:** Frame Up reads the sizes in your variants, in centimeters, inches or paper sizes like A4, and shows each artwork at its true size in a room, so a 5 × 7 looks small and a 45 × 60 fills the wall. On Advanced and Plus, it picks the best of up to three rooms for each size.

## Size is the hardest thing to judge online

A product photo shows what an artwork looks like, but not how big it is. A 5 × 7 and a 30 × 40 can look the same on a phone screen, and a size chart asks shoppers to picture the piece on their wall themselves. When they guess wrong, the print arrives too small for the space or too big for it, and that’s a return, or a customer who doesn’t come back.

Frame Up shows the size instead of describing it.

## It reads the sizes you already sell

You don’t set sizes up twice. Frame Up reads them from your Shopify variants, with one variant rule for every size and every product:

- **Metric and imperial.** It detects the unit in each size automatically: “50 x 70 cm”, “500x700mm”, “16″ x 20″” and “8 1/2 x 11 in” all work, and so do paper sizes like A4 and A3.
- **Bare numbers.** If your sizes read “8 x 10”, tell the rule once whether that means inches or centimeters.
- **What the size measures.** Say whether a size is the image, the artwork, the frame opening or the outside of the frame, and Frame Up sizes the frame around it to match.
- **Portrait or landscape.** Sizes are turned to match the artwork, so “8 x 10” fits a landscape image as well as a portrait one.
- **When the shape differs.** If an artwork’s proportions don’t match a size, choose whether to crop it to fit, stretch it, resize the frame to the image or leave a border.
- **One size per product.** If each artwork comes in a single size, put it in a product metafield instead.

## Every size, shown to scale

Each room in Frame Up is built to real dimensions, so the artwork appears at its true size on the wall, next to the sofa, the lamp or the bed. When a shopper picks another size, the artwork grows or shrinks in place, and they can see straight away whether it suits the space.

The first time a shopper changes size, the preview moves from the close-up into the room, so the change in scale is the first thing they see.

## The best room for each size

One room rarely suits every size. A room wide enough for a 45 × 60 makes a 5 × 7 look lost, and a cozy corner that flatters a small print can’t fit a large one.

On the Advanced and Plus plans you can choose up to three rooms. Frame Up then picks a room for each size as the shopper chooses it: the closest view where the artwork still has comfortable space around it. Small prints appear in an intimate corner, large ones on a wide living room wall, and every size looks its best without you assigning rooms by hand.

## Your own room

On the Plus plan, we can make custom rooms for your store from photos of your own space, such as your studio, your gallery or a room styled to your brand. They’re available only to your store, and they work like any other room: at true scale, and picked by size.

## Questions

**Do I need to rename my size options?**
No. Frame Up reads sizes the way you already write them, such as “50 x 70 cm”, “16″ x 20″”, “8 1/2 x 11 in” or “A3”. One variant rule covers every size you sell.

**My sizes are just numbers, like “8 x 10”. Is that enough?**
Yes. Tell the size rule once whether your numbers are inches or centimeters, and every product follows it.

**What if I only sell one size of each artwork?**
You don’t need size variants. Add the size to each product as a metafield and Frame Up uses it in the same way.

**Which plans pick the room by size?**
Choosing up to three rooms, so Frame Up can pick the best one for each size, is on the Advanced and Plus plans. Custom rooms made from photos of your own space are on Plus.
